How about CONFUSION !!
When I was told I would have to return from my vacation early, naturally, I thought it was because of Jeremy's accident. But then I was told the reason was because the man who is going on vacation NEXT week, needed to leave early ?!?
Um, did I really come back early to let someone else start their retreat??
But the most confusing part about this is that when I got to the yard to pick up the load, there were 6 trucks sitting on the yard......Now why was it so important for ME to return early?
Anyhoo, I made it to Miami and it is a balmy 98 degrees....Because I took this load, I have actually started next week's journey. I did get a scrap run to fill in the down time on Saturday, but I am now facing 7 full days in the truck........WAH!!!!!
yes, I think I am a little too spoiled myself...LOL

Okay, now that just completely sucks @ss. I'm sure you've read my email that I sent to you and Indy this morning about James' and my adventures. Is there something in the water that the bosses are drinking this week? Maybe I need the kool-aid too so that things will make sense!
Terry, you got screwed!!! You know, something like that happened to me before. It was during Thanksgiving and I had a week off, including the two holidays of Thanksgiving, which means double pay. The second day into my vacation I found out from an employee I was "bumped" by a junior employee who outbidded my position (Somehow he conned his way into getting it) and I came back early to get a position at work, otherwise I lose the holiday pay (Redid my vacation to Christmas). Everybody thought you came back to help a co-worker but after reading these blogs, your company "hosed" you big time. You definitely deserved another long vacation and relaxation.
Just one of the many examples of how the job doesn't make sense. And of course you know I was gonna comment on "7 days in a row in the truck" but I don't know what that feels like anymore.

It occurs to me that maybe, just maybe, they figured YOU were the best one for the job.
I think, sometimes, little lady, you underestimate the high regard that you are held in and I suspect the VERY high regard that your company holds you in.
Having been in management in road transport (and NEVER wanting to do it EVER again), I know that there are times and SOME job where you have to be extremely selective of who is sent at a particular time.
The reason why I never want to be in management again? It doesn't matter what, no matter WHAT you do, almost every decision you make is gonna upset somebody - whether it be a driver, a receiver, a customer, whoever you answer to - just somebody WILL get their nose out of joint at just about every decision you make.
Seem to me you are maybe a little TOO good at your job, Sunshine.
I think you're being taken advantage of.

Now on to your recent post. Sorry to hear about the driver's injury. Glad to hear he is going to be OK.
Sorry to hear you had to cut your vacation short. I agree with Indy, maybe you were just the best person for the job. (I'm sure that is it...I would hate to think they are stupid enough to hose one of their best drivers.)

Gabby....My past few days have strongly resembled your and James adventure....The vacation did nothing to relax me because it seems everything it just as I had left it!!
John II, yep!! I think I am going to look into making my home time more relaxing.. Maybe take a few weekend excursions alone.
Doomytunes....LOL...oh I mean, sorry about that, your situation is different. I could work 7 days a week, but I am not that greedy, besides, I like my home time too much!!

Tedybehr, thanks for the compliments.. I explained to Indy that this load had nothing to do with urgency. In fact , they received it a day late because I took it..LOL
