Take It To The Limit

Took these a few weeks ago when I was running around Michigan. I have no idea why, but I am always impressed by the site of the local trucks of Michigan. Heavy Duty, indeed.

and how is this for the American version of a road train. Wish I could have gotten a picture of the guys hauling double 48'ers. Since I do not get to see these too often, and never on the East Coast, I thought I would capture a few to share with you.

Hi Terry. You were in MI? I hear they're called "Michigan Trains" because of the large number of axles on the trailer. I like the photo of the UPS triples. I thought they run 45' or 48' doubles in NY. Aren't they called "Turnpike Doubles". BTW, check out aid2003's site. He favorited a clip of "Canadian Turnpike Doubles" where these trucks haul two 53' trailers. Ever hauled double or triples yourself before?
Later, hellcat.

Those trucks are the reason you have a split speed limit in MI OH and formerly IL. At one time it was part of the deal to run the larger trucks.

Flatdeck.. Heavier haulin at slower speeds is supposed to equal safer travel. I completely disagree with split speed limits, though. Cars racing and weaving through the trucks is not my idea of safety ...LOL

JohnII, yeah, I was in MI..but as for the doubles and triples, well you wont see those running thru NYC. I do not get into New York STATE much, just a 26 mile stretch to the Connecticut border and also Long Island. And NO.. I have never pulled doubles.
